Journaling for Joy

Hi friends!

Today's advent is a 5 minute Journal exercise!  As a songwriter, I love to journal. I believe 

journaling is something of a release, creative exercise & spiritual connection. And even though writing is a passion of mine, I still sometimes find it hard to carve out time and muster up the will to put pen to paper on my own accord.

I'm here to challenge you to take 5 minutes out of your day to give yourself a little meditative time & love through journaling. 
  1. Get out a Pen & Paper

  2. (optional) Play music for vibes & focus...*playlist options below if needed

  3. Turn devices on airplane mode/notifications off 

  4. Pick a prompt below (or just free write!) 

  5. Set a timer for 5 minutes 

  6. Write until timer goes off! 

The key here is to CONTINUOUSLY WRITE. And let yourself write ANYTHING that comes out. If you start with a prompt but then something of a totally different topic comes out, keep with it! There is no judgement. No one needs to ever see what you write, it's merely for the practice of self-love and release.

Prompt ideas:

  • Write a love letter to yourself; thinking objectively through the eyes of a close friend or loved one, someone who would only ever build you up 

  • Doing what makes you happy and gives you the most energy?

  • What sets your heart on fire, and why do you love yourself for that?

  • A list of things you're grateful for and why 

  • Describe a dream vacation, job, activity, lover - something hopeful for the future - as if it presently exists in your life
